Most campsites will not allow you to have an open fire as it damages the ground and on campsites allowing fires there could be a potential health and safety risk (we love health and safety in the UK - can't get enough of it!). But a lot of campsites will allow you to take a barbeque or even a fire pit as long as it is raised above the ground.

Below is one of our campers toasting marshmallows over an open fire (firepit), being kids and enjoying themselves - memories hey!

So there are ways in which you can have a fire and keep safe with consideration for the safety of others on the campsite. It really is a magical feeling sat out under the stars with a campfire going, enjoying all of the benefits that the great outdoors provides.
